Stonybrook Monthly Movie:  On Monday, Dec 1, the monthly movie group will watch "Wicked: For Good."  This is a continuation and completion of the very popular movie musical "Wicked" from last year.  In this film we'll see Dorothy from the original "Wizard of Oz," although the main plot focuses on the relationship between Glinda (the Good Witch) and the Wicked Witch.  The movie is at Stoneridge Cinemark and we will watch the first showing of the day.  Please check for showtimes over the weekend.  After the movie we will walk to a local spot for refreshments and conversation.  Please feel free to invite friends.  If you have questions contact Bill Bartter (wbartter@att.net)

Join us for Hanging of the Greens! Hanging of the Greens will be held on Sunday, November 30, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Help prepare the church for the Advent and Christmas seasons. You will be assigned to different areas of the church to decorate as you arrive. Once you have worked up an appetite, dinner will be provided in MPR A/B. The Fellowship Committee will provide sloppy joe’s and hot chicken sandwiches and a beverage. All are invited to participate by contributing an appetizer, side dish, or dessert. Bring your contribution to the kitchen prior to the event. The meal will be served starting at 5:00 pm.

Healing Service As we head into the holiday season for food, fun, and festivities, let us remember that the holidays are not the same for all. And as we look back on all we’ve experienced the past year, individually and as a community, there have been some moments that have left deep wounds on us all. We invite you to join us for a service of healing and restoration on Wednesday, November 26, at 7:00 pm. We will gather together to pray and worship the God whose steadfast love never ceases.

Fantastic Friday, Nov. 7, 6:00- 8:00 pm.  It’s National Hug a Bear Day.  I wonder what that has to do with loving Jesus!  You will need to come and find out!  Games, a snack, a Bible story, and make & take craft.  Children Preschool through 3rd grade with child care 6 months – the 3rd year.

Ready - Set – Go Grab your apron and your favorite recipes for United Women in Faith's Election Day Bake Sale on Tuesday, November 4, from 6:30 am until the baked goods run out. Please package your goodies with a half dozen or dozen items in each sealed bag. An ingredient list needs to be attached to each bag. Please deliver items to the church kitchen by Monday, November 3, 4:00 pm.  All proceeds will go toward local, national and global missions. Credit Cards will be accepted this year (with a small fee) but cash or checks are welcome

Monthly Movie Next Monday the movie group will step into a time machine and go back to New Jersey in 1980.  Bruce Springsteen (born and raised in New Jersey) has been the hottest rock/pop star for five years but he wants to take his music in a new direction.  He gets push-back from the industry big wigs but he has to be true to his artistic vision.  The movie is "Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere," and it shows the story of creating his "Nebraska" album.  Many of us remember Bruce from our teen and mid-20 years.  This movie touches on his backstory, his struggles with making this album, and his eventual triumph.  The movie is at Stoneridge Cinemark.  We will watch the first showing of the day on Monday, Nov 3.  The first show is currently 12:50 but it could change over the weekend so you should get the showtime online on Sunday.  After the movie we will walk to a local spot for snacks and conversation.  You are encouraged to invite your friends and neighbors.  If you have questions contact Bill Bartter wbartter@att.net).

This event is a perfect way for families to enjoy a fun afternoon in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Don't forget to bring a bag for all the treats! 

Volunteer at Trunk R’ Treat. Sunday, October 26, 3:00- 5:00 pm.  Help to transform our parking lot into a fun Trunk R’ Treat outreach event! Volunteers needed to: decorate trunks; provide hospitality; host for game area; host a craft table; host a pre-decorated treat table; be a candy runner; and help with setup and takedown.

Come, deepen your walk with Christ as we dig into a 6-week study of Adam Hamilton's book, "The Walk:  Five Essential Practices of the Christian Life."  We will explore five practices that can help us move closer to God which are rooted in Jesus' own walk with God:  worship, study, serving, giving, and sharing our faith.  Join Pastor Amy and Pastor David on Mondays at 7 pm on Zoom beginning October 13 or Wednesdays in person at 10 am beginning October 15.  No matter where you are on your journey, if you are seeking to walk with Christ, grow closer to him, and faithfully serve him, this time will help you take your next step.  Sign up here.  Books are available on Amazon or in the church office for $15.   

Touch and See My Church, for 1st – 3rd graders and their parents, Sunday, October 12, 10:30 am in the sanctuary.  Children will interview some who make worship happen, investigate the worship space, and have a sanctuary scavenger hunt.  Children who know more about their environment see it as their own. Children will take away a new understanding of worship and the book, God Made Me For Worship.

The United Women in Faith invites the congregation to our Fall Retreat on Saturday, October 11th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, in the Stonybrook Multipurpose Room A, B, &C.  The retreat leader will be Stonybrook’s own, Pastor Lauren Clawson, who will be giving a presentation regarding the Midwest Mission, where she serves on the Board of Directors. The Midwest Mission provides a variety of kits, such as Birthing Kits, Student Kits, Tornado Kits, and Home Care Kits, to those who are in need. Participants in the retreat will be actively serving as the hands and feet of Jesus as we put together Personal Dignity Kits for those in need.. Lunch will be served. To register,click here .
