Ready - Set – Go Grab your apron and your favorite recipes for United Women in Faith's Election Day Bake Sale on Tuesday, November 3, from 6:30 am until the baked goods run out. Please package your goodies with a half dozen or less in each sealed bag. An ingredient list needs to be attached to each bag. Please deliver items to the church kitchen by Monday, November 2, 4:00 pm.  All proceeds will go toward local, national and global missions. Credit Cards will be accepted this year (with a small fee) but cash or checks are welcome.

November Monthly movie You are invited to join the monthly movie group as we time travel to the early 1800s in England to view the lives and social activities of middle and upper-class Englishmen.  We will be watching Sense and Sensibility, based on Jane Austen's first novel.  The story follows a widow and her three daughters as they are thrown into poverty.  Economic opportunity is non-existent for women and thus the young sisters must seek to better their situation through marriage.  Jane Austen was known as a keen observer and satirist of English social life.  It will be interesting to compare the lives of the Dashwood daughters to young women of today.  We will watch the first show on Monday, Nov 2, at Stoneridge Cinemark.  Please check over the weekend for showtimes.  Following the movie we will walk to a local spot for lunch and conversation.  You are welcome to invite friends and neighbors.  Contact Bill Bartter with questions (wbartter@att.net or 614-403-8272).

All Saints Sunday – Honoring Loved Ones. On Sunday, November 1, we will observe All Saints Sunday by remembering and celebrating the lives of those we have lost over the past year, from November 3, 2024, through the present. During our Holy Communion service, we will read the names of Stonybrook United Methodist Church members who have passed away. We also invite you to submit the names of family members and friends who have died during this time so that they may be honored as well. These names will be displayed on the screen during the service. To include your loved one, please submit their name by Sunday, October 25 , on the back of the connect card or by clicking here. 

Help Us Remember the Saints in Your Life As part of our All Saints Sunday worship on November 1, we are creating a special Bell Banner to honor those who have deeply impacted our lives. During the service, the Bell Banner will be carried into the sanctuary, and the ringing of bells will serve as a powerful reminder of the people who have guided, cared for, and inspired us—parents, family members, mentors, friends—the saints in our lives. From now through Sunday, October 25, you are invited to visit the Narthex and pin bells to the ribbons on display. Each bell represents someone you wish to remember. You may pin as many bells as you like in honor of those who have shaped your journey.

United Women in Faith Fall Retreat will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in  Multi-purpose Rooms A & B.  The congregation is invited to participate.  Beth Vanoli, a Deaconess in the United Methodist Church and founder of Wild Church Miami Valley, will be our guest speaker.   Beth’s presentation, “Seasonal Soul Care,” will have you reflect on the unique qualities of each season and how they serve as gentle signposts on our spiritual journey.  Through heartfelt conversations, guided meditation, soothing sounds, and gentle movement, you will discover how each season's rhythms bring fresh inspiration and nurture as you care for your body, mind, and spirit. We understand that thinking about our own death and funeral can be difficult.  We’ll explore Christian perspectives on death and dying, funeral and memorial services at Stonybrook, and practical ways to make our wishes known to the people we love. We’ll also share Stonybrook’s funeral policy and a simple funeral pre-planning worksheet to help you begin the conversation and record the things that matter to you. Kairos Cookie Time Please consider contributing to the prison ministry. We need your prayers, cookies, financial help, posters.  Cookies will especially be needed as Stonybrook has two (2) men on the team this Fall.  Cookies will be accepted now until Sunday, October 11. Cookie Guidelines: Pray over cookies as you mix, bake, and package them. Any cookie is acceptable, but chocolate chip are especially needed. Try to keep the size consistent at 2-3 inches in diameter.  One dozen cookies per one-gallon bag without a zipper. Please do not use raisins, dried fruit, icing or powdered sugar. Celebrate World Communion Sunday: One Worship Service at 9:30 am  On October 4, we will gather as an entire church family for a single worship service at 9:30 am to celebrate World Communion Sunday.  It will be a beautiful time to worship together, lift our voices in song, and be reminded of the unity we share as followers of Christ.  After worship, stay and enjoy our Fall Festival with fellowship, food, and fun for all ages.  This is a great day to invite visitors or those we have not seen in a while to come and reconnect.  Please mark your calendars and join us.  We look forward to sharing this special day together as a congregation.

Fall Church Clean-Up Day We hope you can join us for our Fall Clean-Up Day! Volunteers are needed to help beautify our church property on Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. (Rain date: October 10). We will remove flowers, rake, weed, prune, clear brush, and complete other outdoor cleanup tasks. Please bring gloves and any gardening tools you may have and be sure to label them with your name. Members of the Planter's Guild will be available to provide guidance in their planting areas. Thank you for helping care for our church grounds. Kroger Health will be hosting a Vaccine Clinic at Stonybrook Church on Saturday, September 13, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Vaccines available include Flu, RSV, Hepatitis, Pneumococcal, Shingles, Tdap, and other routine immunizations. Kroger Health will bill your insurance directly.

Registration is a two-step process:

• Reserve a time slot by visiting the sign-up table in the Welcome Area starting on Sunday, August 23, or by calling the church office.

• Complete the Kroger registration online by clicking here, enter benefit code SBCVAC26, select your vaccine(s), choose the September 13 clinic date, and complete the consent form.

Paper consent forms are also available for those unable to register online. If using a paper form, please provide a copy of the front and back of your insurance card.  For assistance, please contact the church office.

New Member Class In this class, we will explore what it means to be a United Methodist and what it means to be a member of Stonybrook Church. Attending the class does not commit you to joining Stonybrook; it is simply an opportunity to learn more about the church, meet new people, and consider whether membership is the right next step for you. This is a one-day class scheduled for Sunday, August 30, from 12:30–2:30 pm. A light lunch will be provided, and childcare is available upon request. Habitat Wall Build This summer at ASP, the teams repaired and restored homes so they were safer, warmer, and drier.  On August 29, 8:30 am - 1:00 pm, here in the Stonybrook parking lot, we have the opportunity to be part of a team that builds a safe, warm, and dry home with a deserving family through MidOhio Habitat for Humanity. Sign-up to help raise the interior and exterior walls of a house that will become the very first home for a family. We are in need of 70 - 80 skilled and non-skilled volunteers willing to construct and load the walls.  Volunteers must be 12 years or older. 12-17-year-olds must be supervised by their adults to participate.  Each participant must fill out a waiver prior to work.
