Monthly Movie As our last outing before the summer break, the movie group will take a rom-com excursion to Italy with "You, Me & Tuscany."  The movie follows Anna, a down on her luck New Yorker who suffered a recent loss in her family.  She thinks a trip to Italy will revive her spirits but gets caught up in a comedy of errors that have not been seen since Shakespeare's time.  Reviews say this is a beautifully filmed lighthearted movie with small bits of salty language.  We will see the first showing of the day on Monday, May 4.  Following the movie we will have lunch and conversation at a local spot.  Please check online for showtimes.  If the movie is not being shown we will skip this month.  Questions, suggestions, contact Bill Bartter (wbartter@att.net.

Monthly Movie

Monthly Movie

Monthly Movie You are invited to join the movie group for an entertaining look at early Methodism in colonial America with the movie "A Great Awakening."  The movie tells the true story of the collaboration between George Whitefield, who worked with John Wesley in the early days of the Methodist movement, and Benjamin Franklin, Philadelphia publisher and Founding Father.  Whitefield was educated and preached in England but traveled to the colonies at least seven times and spent many years here.  His preaching to large crowds was instrumental to the first "Great Awakening," a religious revival in the 1730s and 1740s.  The movie is at Stoneridge Cinemark and we will go to the first showing Monday, April 6.  Please check online over the weekend for showtimes.  We will walk to a local spot for lunch and conversation after the movie.  This is not limited to Stonybrook members so feel free to invite friends.  If you have questions, contact Bill Bartter (wbartter@att.net).

Evening Worship: The Last Week of Jesus
Thursday, April 2, 2026, 7:00 pm

Join us for a moving evening of worship as we gather to remember the final days of Jesus’ earthly life.  Through scripture, prayer, music, and silence, we encounter Jesus and his disciples in the Upper Room, share in Holy Communion as they did, and listen as the story of his suffering unfolds in the growing shadows of the cross.  Together, we will enter the sacred story that leads us toward Easter hope.  All are welcome.  This one service will take the place of our usual offerings on Holy Thursday and Good Friday.  If you are unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed and available at stonybrook.church/worship, as well as on Facebook and YouTube.

Prime Timer Lunch and Learn You are invited to join us for an informative presentation about early Gahanna history.  Cora Thurman, a pioneering educator whose remarkable 41-year career, from 1915 to 1957, helped expand opportunity and cultivate belonging for countless students in Central Ohio.  Cora Thurman made history in 1913 as the first African American student to graduate from Gahanna High School, demonstrating profound courage and determination in pursuing her own education at a time when racial barriers sought to limit her potential.  We will be joined by Tom Gregory, a long-time Gahanna Lincoln High School media teacher and an expert on Gahanna history.  He was instrumental in moving an original one-room schoolhouse from Rt 62 to its current location close to the high school.  The lunch will be on Friday, March 20, at 11:30 in Wesley Hall.  There will be a free-will offering to cover food expenses.  Please click here if you are interested in attending this event.  Contact Bill Bartter at wbartter@att.net if you have questions.  This event is open to non-members of the congregation, so feel free to invite friends.
